What is the range of investment required for an Ekam pre-school?
- An investment and working capital upwards of ₹2 Crores, depending on the locations and proposed scale. The capital expenditures should cover the franchise fee, built-space costs ( existing or built-to-suit), bespoke interiors and furniture, learning resources, compliance & organisation costs, pre-launch marketing activities and pre-launch staffing costs. We also recommend to have further funds, available in a liquid from, to support operating expenses of six months post launch
What is the royalty structure?
- We offer bespoke, adaptable long-term franchising models designed to suit different contexts. For longer-term, larger scale capital commitments, we have a built-to-suit 10-year model, while for other contexts we offer a 5+5 year preferential renewal model.
- The franchise fee is structured based on the city, specific location, and chosen tenure. The one-time upfront investment ranges from ₹25–30 lakhs (exclusive of GST) for a 5-year term. Renewal fees are set subjectively as well depending on the tenure of the franchise. They range between a fixed 50% of the current initiation fee to 70% of the prevailing franchise fee at the point of renewal.
- The annual royalty fee is 10% of the gross revenue.
What is the expected timeline for a return on investment (ROI) and profitability?
- This is subjective and based on specific contexts. We provide a customized budget projection tool which can be tailored to your locality. With a proven roadmap, brand, systems, the range of success depends on your execution and administration of the center. The most likely payback period may range between 2 to 3.5 years depending on initial scales.
What is the minimum term of the franchise agreement and what is the renewal process?
- The minimum time for a franchise agreement is 5 years and there will be a renewal fee applicable at the time of extending the term. The maximum time for a franchise agreement is 10 years with a subjective renewal thereafter.
What are the terms for the upfront franchise fee?
- The comprehensive selection process for the allotment of the franchises involves multiple-stages of careful assessment, verifications and planning. The fee is payable at the time of the signing of the franchise agreement. This fee shall be non-refundable and only in extreme scenarios, at the discretion of Ekam, can be deferred by a maximum of 1 year beyond the agreed timeline of setup according to the franchise agreement.
Is the franchise transferable if I want to sell or sub-franchise it?
- The Ekam franchise is not transferable or sellable. If you wish to terminate your franchise for whatever reasons, elaborate processes in the contract will be the guidelines.
What support do you offer for staff recruitment and training?
- We support staff recruitment processes with clear guidelines, job-roles and outreach.
- We directly and mandatorily engage in the process of the recruitment of the Head of School. This is the most crucial role for the success of the pre-school along with the overall operations administrator. We require an educationist profile for this role.
- We provide comprehensive training and orientation for the Franchise Promoters and the Heads of School via an in-person 2-day conference in Hyderabad. The costs of this conference ( except travel to and back from Hyderabad) are included in the fees for two people – Promoter and the Head of School.
- We also provide virtual teacher training programs and courses, and from time-to-time optional,in-person trainings for the teachers
Do I need to have prior experience in Early Years Education or generally in the Education field?
- The Franchise Owner does not necessarily need to have prior work experience in education delivery or early years learning.
- We definitely require the Head of School to have prior experience in the Early Learning space, or in the broader landscape of education as an Educator.
What is the timeline for launching my pre-school?
- For this franchising cycle in 2025 we would be looking at launch dates starting from June 2026 and no later than August 2026
- To be fully prepared for these launch timelines, you’ll need the built-space to be launch ready ideally by March 2026 and no later than May 2026
What kind of support will I receive on the marketing front?
- We will showcase your center across our centralized marketing channels which may include Digital/Social Media, Coverages in Main-Stream Media, Events and other campaigns.
- We provide a comprehensive brand-kit and design templates to help you manage your own localised marketing campaigns, events, digital presence and social media.
- We also offer optional digital-presence management and performance marketing service to franchises at an additional monthly service fee.
- The website is centrally managed. Each franchise will have a dedicated webpage.
What are the specifications for the building and furniture?
- We provide a detailed specification sheet and pre-opening guidance on layout and design, helping you create a safe, peaceful, nature-rich, and playful environment.
- We will audit the execution at two stages and give approvals. Stage 1) Final Layout and Design Plan. 2) Post Development Sign-off.
- We mandate all the necessary state/region/city compliances from competent authorities including but not limited to municipal permissions, fire NOCs as applicable, Structural Certifications and Food-based licenses like FSSAI.
How many staff members does an Ekam pre-school need ?
- For an average capacity of 100-120 students, a team of 22-25 staff including a Head of School, Administrative staff, Teachers & Assistant Teachers, and Support staff to ensure the ideal ratios for the right care and efficient learning delivery.
- These numbers are indicative and may have to vary based on scale, location and type of built-spaces.
How are the salaries of the staff determined?
- The staff salaries are to be determined at each center based on the local factors and prevailing pay scales. We provide a subjective, hard guideline for the Head of School profile only.
- We at Ekam believe that any center will deliver the best and rapidly scale only when we attract the top talent in the city.
- We expect every Ekam center to have very competent, efficient and passionate teachers and staff. We conduct center audits from time-time to ensure that all the expected standards are being maintained including the quality of the teachers.
What are the different types of franchise models?
- In this cycle we are only offering a Franchise-Owned and Franchise-operated model. You as a Franchise promoter, along with the Head of School, are responsible for all the day-to-day operations including delivery of the curriculum, events, learning programs, parent interactions.

Will you assist us with the legal compliances required?
- Yes, we will assist you with the structuring process . We will provide you with general guidelines documents and check-lists to meet these requirements. You, at your end, need to explore further and consequently work on meeting all the local regulatory compliances.
- To begin with, it is mandatory for this franchising process to incorporate an educational society to run your Ekam pre-school.
Can I take this franchise under my existing company?
- No you cannot. It is mandatory to incorporate an educational trust to begin your Ekam pre-school.
What is my pre-schools catchment area?
- We work with you to define a catchment area that ensures you have a clear market to operate in without direct competition from other Ekam pre-school franchises.
- In general we look at relatively larger catchment areas considering the positioning of Ekam pre-schools.
